Two of Ford’s models – C-Max hybrid and C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid will see some upgrades for next year. Namely, the looks of these vehicles will be different, whereas the fuel efficiency is going to be improved as well. And a nice surprise on top of all that is that the starting price will be lower.
The European C-Max serves as an inspiration for the changes on the 2017 Ford C-Max designed for the US market. The version in Europe received a full facelift, but only some of the parts are modified on the US variant. For instance, the front grille looks different, whereas but we are getting new wheels, headlights, and taillights. Despite these improvements, we have to admit that the European version still looks better.
2017 Ford C-Max Engine
Under the hood of this vehicle is the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that is combined with one electric motor. This motor gets power from a 1.4-kWh battery pack, and the system returns the total output of 188 hp. The fuel efficiency is rated at 42 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.
On the other hand, we have the 2017 Ford C-Max Energi that has a larger 7.6-kWh battery pack. The fuel economy figures for this vehicle jump to 104 mpg in the city compared to the 95 mpg from the previous model. Also, these numbers are improved from 81 mpg to 87 mpg on the highway.
Instead of the Ford C-Max SEL, which was on the market last year, a Titanium model is added to the range. Speaking of the Energi model, it will be offered in two trim levels – SE and Titanium.
Price
The starting price of the 2017 Ford C-Max is $24,995. However, the real reduction can be seen if you compare prices of the 2016 and 2017 Energi. The 2016 model could be purchased for $32,645 whereas the new one costs $27,995. The reason for this decline in price is the inclusion of the lower SE trim. Even the new Energi Titanium is $1,650 cheaper compared to the last year making this even more attractive option on the market of green cars.
