The contract extension will guarantee Cristiano Ronaldo that he is going to remain the most paid player in Real Madrid squad.

New deal for Ronaldo doesn’t come as a surprise, as he is for years and currently, one of the best players in Real Madrid’s current squad and the history of this glorious football club. The contract is signed until 2024, and at that time Portugal superstar will be 36 years of age.

Spanish football giants from Madrid announced that new contract will be signed on Monday. Financial details have not yet been disclosed, but it is clear that Cristiano will remain a highest paid player in Madrid. Officials from Real waited for the end of Sunday’s game against Leganes to make this information public. The final score was 3-0 for Los Blancos, but Portuguese ace missed the chance to get himself on the score-sheet. Nevertheless, he earned a new contract with his previous deeds.

He is currently in his eighth year with the club. If he honors his contract until the end, he will achieve the milestone of 12 years with Real. He arrived in Madrid from Manchester United in 2008 for a record fee in football at that time. His current contract is expiring in 2018 and biggest club in the world wanted to ensure his stay.

The new agreement is coming in the right time for the three-time world’s best player as he is currently facing a lot of criticism. He is having worst start to the season since he joined Madrid. With seven goals in twelve appearances, he is playing below every expectation. In his last five outings on Santiago Bernabeu, he failed to find the net which is his longest goal drought on home turf. The climax of his below-pair performances came when he was booed by home fans after a bad performance and evident selfishness displayed.

With the new contract and more money on his bank account Ronaldo is certainly aiming at improving his recent performances. He has led Real Madrid to two Champions League titles in 2014 and 2016 and a Spanish league title in 2012. He is two goals close to reaching the milestone of hundred goals scored in European competitions. The player with this kind of resume deserves a better contract, don’t you think?

He is the fifth player to have his contract extended by Real Madrid in recent weeks. Before him, long time commitment with the club was signed by Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vasquez.
