Although the following RX model still hasn’t been officially announced, the company claimed that a rotary engine will be the only option available.
Russell Wager, the Mazda North American Operations vice president-marketing spoke to Wards Auto in Las Vegas. He declared that the next RX model which will be produced is going to be equipped with the rotary engine. However, the rotary units are not the best option when it comes to fuel economy.

Russell Wager said:” That concept car [RX Vision] shows RX in the title. Every time we’ve used that in the past, it means rotary engine. I hope that’s the case this time. “That car wouldn’t come to market unless it has a rotary engine. That’s what they are working on.”
According to the Japanese company, the engineering team has been working diligently on the rotary engine for the past eight years and they have tried to improve it as much as they can. However, it remains unknown whether the team has managed to make a breakthrough since the company is not revealing much about this.
Be that as it may, the new model called the RX-9 will hit the market in 2024, according to the reports.
