The brand new Mazda CX-9 will be presented by the end of this year in Malaysia and it is expected to go on sale in June 2017. According to the Bermaz, the model will be assembled in Japan and imported in Malaysia, but the company is considering Complete Knock Down (CKD) local assembly.
The Mazda used its famous Kodo design on the CX-9 when the car debuted at the LA Auto Show in 2015. There is a large grille in the front, whereas the taillights are connected with a chrome bar. The car is 5,075mm long, 1,969mm wide whereas the wheelbase is 2,930mm. Furthermore, the CX-9 and Ford won’t have the same platform anymore.

Speaking of the cabin, the dashboard with three deep-set dials and a free-standing display in the middle will be included. The improved materials will also play a significant role in one’s decision whether to buy this car or not.
Meanwhile, there have been some changes regarding the engine. Mazda’s SkyActiv-G 2.5T turbocharged unit with direct injection will be located under the hood instead of the naturally-aspirated V6 engine. This new unit will come with i-stop and i-ELOOP tech. The new power plant produces 250hp and 420 Nm of torque in the US and it has Dynamic Pressure Turbo. Both FWD and AWD options will be offered in Malaysia, whereas the vehicle will come with a six-speed SkyActiv torque converter automatic transmission.
The CX-9 will reach the cost of Malaysia with six airbags, Smart City Braking Support and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Moreover, the Blind Spot Monitoring and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with a Stop & Go function are also part of the package. Just for the record, Australasian NCAP awarded the CX-9 with a five-star rating.
This model will come with an eight-inch touchscreen for the MZD Connect infotainment system. Furthermore, an adjusted Active Driving Display will be in full-color and it will project straight to the windscreen and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system are parts of the car.
If you opt for this vehicle, you will get three-zone air con, LED headlights, and a powered tailgate. In addition, sunroof is also available, but none of this features have been confirmed for the Malaysian market.
