The 2017 Ford Ecosport will see some changes and the most prominent will be the ones regarding the exterior design. Namely, the car will feature more prominent lines from two models – Kuga and Edge. The facelifted Ecosport is supposed to be introduced before the end of this year, whereas it will go on sale early in 2017.
This overhauled compact SUV will have similar traits as its larger sibling, as the manager of SUV communications at Ford, Jeremy Schofield declared. The car which was spotted testing had a redesigned front bumper, whereas the rear bumper was slightly adjusted. Furthermore, there was a brand-new black section in the middle of the front bumper.
The model intended to go on sale in South America and China will have a spare wheel on the rear. However, the European version will come without it, securing the cleaner and prettier look. The company’s Sync3 infotainment system will be integrated into the car.
Speaking of the engine options, it will likely remain the same. This means that Ford will offer a 1.0-liter V3 petrol, 1.5-liter V4 petrol and 1.5-liter V4 diesel units. It remains unknown whether the AWD will be added to the car.
Schofield said: “15% of B-spec SUVs are four-wheel-drive. It’s a small but significant proportion.” Be that as it may, even if an AWD is added to the range, it will probably come as an option, or with more powerful engines.
