Some people inspire us. After we meet them, we change. Dejana Bačko is a girl from Serbia, who was born without both arms. She was a guest on a TV show and with her courage and a will to live she won the hearts of millions. Everyone appreciated her kindness, positivity and her way of approaching life inspired many people around the globe.
Dejana is always optimistic and she will overcome any obstacles in her life, no doubt about that. She told her story and revealed to the Serbian public that Novak Djokovic, the best tennis player in the world, is her idol.
Dejana said:”I have followed Novak since 2010. Right now, I am unable to watch all his matches because I work too much, but I didn’t miss a game before. I hate it when he loses. When I watch him with my grandma and grandpa, and he loses, we all shout.”
She paints portraits with her feet and the ones with Novak Djokovic are her favorite. She declared:”I paint my portraits based on the photos I find online. I choose the ones I like the most. Novak is my idol because he encourages so many people, he truly has a heart of gold.”
Novak Djokovic surprised Dejana, as he recorded a video message just for her. Here is what he said:”First of all I want to say that it is a great pleasure for me to tell you how much I love you, respect you and admire you. I admire your strength, I admire your will and talent, not just your painting talent, which is obvious, but your knack for taekwondo, your determination to learn, to be a student and constantly develop and grow.”
Moreover, he stated:”You are an idol to all of us, an inspiration to everyone and you show other people, with your example, how important it is not to give up, believe in yourself and follow your dreams. I can’t wait to hug you and meet you in person. I know it will be soon, but until then I want to tell you not to give up, stay on your path, be positive as you have always been and smile all the time. I love you and I wish you the best.”
