What can you say about a team that has just won 73 games in the regular season and then went out and got Kevin Durant in Free Agency?This team is looking loaded with superstars and with unlimited potential. They are considered as the favorites to win it all this season. Will they do it or will they finish just like they did last year?
Stephen Curry won’t probably win the MVP for the third straight season since he will need to share the ball. Warriors have four All-Star players so one of the changes in Steph’s game will include more passing as he will have even better support on almost all positions. Looking what he has done so far, he really doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone and to duplicate what he did last season.
Klay Thomspon will get his shots, and his role won’t change a lot just like Draymond Green that will still be the anchor of that defense and very important part of Golden State’s championship puzzle. Kevin Durant will get the ball and Warriors will probably have many plays with him at the start of the season so that he would feel more comfortable and satisfied with his new team and his decision to leave Oklahoma City Thunder.
The real challenge for this squad will be playing defense and how to stop people. They need some good minutes from Zaza Pachulia and JaValee McGee. Defense is what they are there for. Livingston and Iguodala are the most valuable pieces off the bench so they will carry the load for the second unit. Iggy is getting up there in minutes and age so it will be interesting to see if he can do it.
Warriors won’t win over 70 games this season. They will have some growing pains to start the year. When that is done, it’s going to be a smooth ride for the rest of the regular season. They will finish 67-15 and make the Playoffs as the number one seed. We are picking them to go to the NBA Finals and meet the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third straight year. They should be the favorites in that matchup, but we are not going to bet against LeBron James at this moment.
