In the following article, we are going to compare the fifth-generation 2017 Honda CR-V to the currently available model. For the record, 345,647 units of the ongoing Honda CR-V were sold last year in the US only. This success is why the new generation is similar to the present car. However, there are some small refinements, which may not be visible to the naked eye.
Some would think that the new generation is not a separate model, but only a facelift. However, if you take a closer look you will see that everything except the shape is redesigned.
Let’s start with the front end. The grille of the new model is more prominent mainly because the fog lights lowered to the bottom of the bumper. The whole front end looks tidy, partly because of the fog lights and partly because of re-positioned elements in the cluster. Furthermore, headlamps and bigger air vents add to a clean look.
The sides of the vehicle are almost identical. The ongoing model has larger side mirrors, which makes it look bulkier. On the other hand, the fifth-generation CR-V comes with a chrome strip together with swollen quarter panels.
The most visible difference is the fashionable tailgate which is much wider on the new model. Also, at the rear end, the license plate holder is lowered, whether the exhaust pipes on the new vehicle are surrounded by the bumper, unlike the ongoing model, where the pipes are below it.
The exterior of the new car looks really simple but elegant. Honda also decided to simplify the interior. In the cabin, everything is repositioned except the climate control functions. A new car will feature a cleaner screen that controls the entire console. Furthermore, the physical volume knob, which is missing in the current CR-V, comes back in the new one.
Among other revisions, digital LCD will be added, whereas the steering wheel will look differently. These are only some of many minor upgrades which really turn the new CR-V into an extraordinary car.
