Well, this is one of those news that are going to spark more tensions between the car fans than it should. What has to be kept in mind is that the both Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 are great and that the differences between them are supposed to happen, if they were all the same life wouldn’t have a meaning. Just kidding!
The battle between these two was on a secure Dragway and under controlled conditions which is most important. In every race, safety first, always remember. Now, what is important to say is that the drivers of these magnificent vehicles opted for a single run that will determine the victor instead of the two out of three or three out of five option. Later option sound a lot more fun to us. Both of the cars shined with their 6.2-liter supercharged machines in pure 100% factory form which is excellent because anything else just wouldn’t cut it.
The race was on a ½ mile long strip, and it was nothing less than spectacular. The race ended up as you probably predicted it, prejudice aside. Yes, the lighter and in this case faster on the start Z06 took an easy victory. But that was expected. Dodge will have to work really hard on Challengers diet if it wants to make it competitive, at least against Z06. One other thing making the Challenger Hellcat a weaker opponent is its traction which is pretty bad. Dodge should consider magnetic suspension and some other tweaks to make it more capable against opponents like this. What goes in favor of the Challenger is its boxy shape which actually offers it more drag while the Z06 is lighter and has to make up for extra lift by using drag/downforce. The sound winner in this run definitely goes for the MOPAR Challenger Hellcat while the ½ mile race win goes to Corvette Z06.

I would be honored to have a chance to witness something like this live, but for now, I have to settle for images and the incredible video of the race. I suggest you do the same, turn the volume up and enjoy the amazing sounds with me!
