The BMW i8 Spyder Concept was introduced in Beijing in 2012 and many believed that it was only a matter of time when we were going to see the car in the streets. However, not many assumed that it would take this long for the i8 Roadster to hit the streets.
Be that as it may, the car will finally reach the production stage. This was confirmed by the BMW CEO Herald Krueger. Last Tuesday, at a press conference in Santa Monica, California, he stated that 2018 will be the year when the car will go on sale.
Although the CEO refused to talk about the car details, the vehicle will have a battery with a longer range and electric motor that will deliver more power, according to previous reveals. Furthermore, it’s sibling with the fixed roof will also witness some revisions, and the updates will be the same on both cars.
Krueger also confirmed that customers are satisfied with the new upgraded battery for the i3. The battery’s range is 186 miles (300 km) per one charge, which is a magnificent upgrade, considering that the last battery was good for 118 miles (190 km) per charge.
For all BMW fans, it is great news that the i8 Roadster will finally reach production.
