After winning the best player in the Champions League award, last season Ronaldo stated that he hopes he will stay for “many years” at Real Madrid.
Cristiano’s fans and everybody else know that the 31-year-old led Real Madrid to their European glory for the second time this May where he scored 16 goals in total and the winning penalty in the final against Atletico Madrid. The same man who after a few weeks lead Portugal to the European Championship said that he really doesn’t have intentions to leave Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
He made a statement at the AC Hotel La Finca in Madrid saying “I’ve won the Champions League and the Euros, it’s a beautiful moment in my career and my sporting life, it just makes me want to keep working hard for this club”. He also added that “It’s my dream to keep playing for Real Madrid and I really want to stay here for many years because the club holds a special place in my heart”.
Since his time here at Real Madrid Cristiano broke a few records including that of a Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer which was held by one of Madrid’s favorite sons Raul. He scored 51 goals in all competitions last season which easily got him in front of Raul. This was an achievement that even he thought that was impossible for him to achieve, but nevertheless, he made it. “I never expected to reach these numbers” Ronaldo stated, adding “I knew that Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, but I didn’t expect to beat the numbers of (Alfredo) Di Stefano and Raul.”
