Torrent fans as it stands do not have any choice but to accept the blocking of The Pirate Bay (TBP) that Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome have both blocked. This is even after the Torrentz.eu; a meta-search engine and Kickass Torrents have been missing in action for some months now. This makes one wonder if this restriction that is being placed on browsers will reach YTS.ad, ExtraTorrent.cc, RARBG, and 1137x.to as well.
At the moment, TPB category and home pages are still accessible, Ventura Beat said. The only problem is with the downloading link. Firefox and Chrome will give users a phishing warning when they want to access the site.
Such advice that Chrome would give will warn users that thepiratebay.org may trick them into revealing information that is personal like phone numbers, passwords or credit cards or to install an unwanted software. Chrome will go further to let the user know that the site has been reported to be deceptive which is why they blocked it.
However, TorrentFreak says that users have the choice to dismiss this warning and go ahead to carry out their normal torrenting habit.
The question on the lips of many users is whether other KAT alternative will be blocked by Google like TPB. It will not come as a surprise though since ExtraTorret.cc had been reported to have been flagged red by Comodo – a security provider as reported by TorrentFreak.
The recent TPB takes the second place in shortest span and so it will not be surprising to see it labeled as a malware and phishing risk site.
RARBG, ExtraTorrent, YTS.ag, and 1137x are the top 5 alternatives to Torrentz.eu and Kickass Torrent. At the head of the pack is The Pirate Bay. If at the end of the day, these sharing sites get marked and blocked by Google, torrent fans will be left with two options.
One of such is to make use of a virtual private network that will allow them private and safe browsing that will block out risky sites. Or, they can make use of Opera and TOR browsers that can help achieve the same purpose. However, Opera has not been known to have VPN that allows for safe browsing or blocking of risky sites.
