The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded 2017 Dodge Charger with a five-star safety rating. The car got this award both for all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive.
The FCA’s Head of Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Compliance, Mike Dahl stated:”This further validates the robustness of our safety engineering. But crashworthiness is only half the story. We are immensely proud of the investment we’ve made in the driver-assist technologies that help enable crash mitigation”.
A crash-mitigation system is the most significant safety feature in the vehicle. Many cameras and radars register if a frontal impact is inevitable and the driver gets both audio and visual warnings so that he can react. The brief brake application is triggered as an alert if the driver doesn’t do anything. After this, the driver should respond, but if that is not the case, the car brakes are applied to slow down the car as much as possible to minimize the damage of the crash.
The car is equipped with more than 80 safety features and this is just a drop in the bucket. It also comes with Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist. With this feature, a driver is aware of the car’s position on the track, and in order to determine this position, the system uses a set of cameras. Furthermore, steering inputs are delivered to the driver if he/she unintentionally drifts towards a lane marker.
Also, the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen display is located in the cabin, on which you can adjust these options to your own liking. The display first appeared in the cabin of the 2017 Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300.
