Lotus is not stopping! Another special edition vehicle has been revealed. This time, it is the Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition. It is the latest in a line of 50th celebration models. Of course, it has been improved and comes with a list of lightweight options as standard. According to Lotus, the Exige 350 Special Edition is saving “the hardest until last,” since it is being based on the “most extreme Exige to date,” as they say.
It has 26kg less than the Exige Sport 350 which enables it to reach 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. Thanks to the lower weight and the same supercharged 3.5-litre V6 unit with 345 bhp it is able to achieve a tenth of a second better time. Reaching the max speed of 170 mph is not a problem for it. All of these come as a result of the usage of unique panels, lighter battery, optimized sound insulation and different, better pipework. The center console with the gear shift mechanism is new as well, it is lighter than the previous, every kg counts.
The lovers of the automatic transmission will be disappointed since it comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Obviously, this machine is made for die hard fans so we don’t mind the fact that there will be no automatic transmission. Aerodynamics also had to be improved, thus there are revised front access panel, sculpted body, and rear wing. The flat underside and back diffuser add 42 kg of downforce at a speed of 100 mph. The handling of the Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition is improved and more responsive thanks to stiffer dampers and optimized geometry. The car’s center of gravity is lowered thanks to the newly designed tailgate.
Standard equipment package has cruise control and floor mats included, as well as Bluetooth connectivity and integrated in-car infotainment system. As for the colors, those who are interested in buying a Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition will choose one out of four offered colors. Those are Old English White, Motorsport Black, Dark Metallic Grey and Essex Blue. All of these come with racing stripes that add the interesting contrasting effect. Red brake calipers are under the lightweight forged alloys. The designers decided to use matt black color for other details. At least £61,900 will be the price for the pleasure of owning a Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition.
