Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Normandy’s leaked pictures and specs are doing the rounds from quite some time now, and recent leaked picture, again from the tipster @evleaks, of the alleged phone reveals it even deeper. It is expected that Normandy would be the first Android based device from Nokia.
BBM shown in the tile
The screenshots published by @evleaks shows the User Interface of Normandy device. The user interface shows the home screen and the notification page. The homes screen, which is showed in the screenshot, also shows apps for dialers, message, contacts, internet, Twitter, Skype, MixRadio, Here Maps, Camera app, Plants Vs Zombies, Gallery, Vine, Facebook, Calculator, Calendar, Alarms, Music, Downloads, Radio, Viber, Opera and WeChat.
One important aspect in the User Interface of the alleged Normandy is that the tiles are similar to one seen in the Lumia Windows powered phones. There is also a BBM tile on the UI, which indicates that the device is powered by Android, but nothing has been confirmed, as of now.
In another screenshot, the notifications page of Normandy looks similar to the Asha phone’s Fastlane, which is the home screen of new Asha phones. In the notification page the alerts for the alarm clock, calendar, missed calls or messages can be seen. The User Interface also shows the ‘Recent’ section, which would probably show the apps recently used by the user. Within the screenshots, one can see the dual-SIM support for the phone
Nokia’s shift may prove Microsoft’s failure
Neil Mawston of Strategy Analytics said that rumour about the first Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Android phone is doing the rounds over past two years. Mawston added that Nokia is not happy with the Microsoft’s slow progress and its sluggish development of the platform, which is why it is experimenting with the other platforms like Android.
Mawston said that the success of Nokia Android phone would be worth watching, and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) would be considered as a failure if Nokia launches Android power phones or tablets.
Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Normandy budget Android phones was shown in the pictures released earlier this week. A Twitter account with handle @picturepan2 leaked an image that showed the second engineering prototype of the alleged Nokia Normandy Android phone, with a live image powered by the Android operating system. The version of the phone was not revealed and a proprietary launcher was also visible. There were various other images on the website showing the alleged Nokia Normandy with an Android surface.
