Downtown ArtWalk
The Downtown L.A. Artwalk has become a travel destination for tourists from all over the world. This landscape art tour of downtown L.A. is a self-guided event for bringing the community together to celebrate the arts on the second Thursday of every month from Noon – 10 pm. Exciting artistic offerings are provided by downtown L.A. Galleries, artists, bars, restaurants, and shops. Most of the activities take place on Spring and Main streets between 2nd and 9th street. Landscape art buyers and appreciators can enjoy browsing through the landscape art exhibits while finishing off the evening at dining and entertainment establishments. Currently, there are more than 28 venues on their Artwalk map; each venue contributing in its own way to the thriving arts community in downtown L.A.

The Hive Gallery is a unique gallery/studio space that was founded in 2005. They have an impressive art agenda that includes 5 featured artists each month, two full galleries, 25 working artists with studios, and an artist-made item store. The Hive Gallery is one of the longest standing galleries in L.A. and was pivotal in establishing L.A. as a world-renowned art ‘hot-spot’. Aside from visual arts, The Hive Gallery also hosts a plethora of fundraising events, artist workshops (including landscape artists) and movie screenings. Ace Gallery
Another one of L.A.s premier art galleries includes Ace Gallery. Ace Gallery was founded in 1961 by the current director, Douglas Christmas. This gallery is known for its museum-quality exhibitions including landscape paintings. They showcase artists at every level of their career including emerging and mid-career landscape artists. Michael Kohn Gallery
Founded in 1985, the Michael Kohn Gallery has curated shows of historical importance including exhibits from Andy Warhol and a number of talented important artists. The MOCA
We would be remiss if we covered the L.A. art scene without mentioning The Museum of Contemporary Art. Permanent collections of artists work inside the MOCA include Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauschenburg. Perhaps this city does not possess the notable collections of historic art found in New York, Paris, or London. But with the contemporary scene moving forward at this rate L.A. is catching up to and in some ways passing these cities.
