Guardiola has been in management since 2008 and during his tenure as the coach he has lead to success the likes of Barcelona FC, Bayern Munich and he’s now trying to do the same with Manchester City. During his career, he spent more than 748 million on players.
Mourinho, on average, has spent 82.6 million per season while Guardiola used even more, 93.5 millions of euros. Looking at the number of their trophies, Mourinho has needed 53.9 for every trophy while at the same time Guardiola only needed 35.6 million.
After taking charge of their respectful Manchester clubs, Guardiola has been the bigger spender. He spent more than 213 million on the likes of Sane, Nolito, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan.

Now, after the match has been finished many could argue what was the thing that mattered the most.
Was it the money, the quality of the players or skill of these two managers? We would say that only thing that matters now is the final result, and it is Manchester United 1 – Manchester City 2.
The City opened the game batter and managed to take advantage in the first 15 minutes of the game trough Kevin De Bruyne, who was assisted by Iheanacho. After 36 minutes of the match, it was 2-0 for Man City, and the scorer was Iheanacho himself. Despite dominating the first half, City managed to concede a goal late in the 42nd minute after the mistake by their goalkeeper Bravo who made it possible for Ibrahimovic to score.
The second half was goalless after the United held the ball for the most of the half, and City was more focused on defending the goal and counterattacking. Marcus Rashford was the difference after coming on in the second half but failed to make the impact when it mattered the most, and that is in front of the goal.
The conclusion is that Pep managed to outwit Mou yet one more time. City looked like a better team with their new players mixed in with the rest of the team.
Biggest disappointment definitely was the poor performance by Paul Pogba, who with his price tag should do better.
Eventually, this was just their first game of the season. We will have to wait until the next year for another one, but it will certainly be worth the wait.
