There were a lot of people calling for Jason Garrett’s head after he made the decision to punt the ball in overtime when it was 4th and 1 on Houston’s 40-yard line. Don’t get us wrong, the long time has already passed since he has shown us that he is not the man for this job, but this just might be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has stated that Dallas probably should have gone for it when it was 4th and 1. “We are being outplayed. It’s time for risks at that particular time.”
The Dallas Cowboys have gone for the play on 4th and 1 19 times since they drafted Ezekiel Elliot. They have gotten the first down 18 times. That tells you right there that they made a bad decision.
Everybody, including the vast majority of the Dallas Cowboys fans, know that Jason Garrett is not the man for the job. Right now, he looks like Jerry’s puppet. Garrett does what Jones wants him to do, which has never been good for America’s Team. Jerry likes it that way, he likes to be involved more than he should.
It is his own fault that he kept Jason Garrett online to make this kind of decisions. Scott Linehan, the offensive coordinator, is just as awful. But, Jerry prefers to have these “yes-men” around and be involved with the team, rather than having true football people who know what they are doing, who have the character and are going to keep Jerry in check.
‘Boys need a guy with a strong personality at the head coaching position. Until they find that, every mistake that Jason makes, is actually going to be on Jerry.
