With the training camp underway, the Dallas Cowboys have some questions that need to be answered. And while some of the things are obvious, we have listed five things you may not have noticed at this point.
Chaz Green era is at its end
Even though it appeared that Green has managed to find his footing, it has not been the case. He looks as helpless as he was in the game against the Atlanta Falcons last season. We have nothing against the lad, but Green has had multiple opportunities to show that he is worthy and he used none. It is time for the Cowboys to find a solution and someone to replace Green as his NFL dream is on the lifeline.
Rico Gathers experiment is drawing to a close
The fans of Rico Gathers got excited when he made the impressive one-handed catch in practice, but even Gathers himself was not that enthusiastic about it. Among tight ends, only David Wells had fewer snaps, which suggests that the Gathers experiment is drawing to a close. We are not sure whether he will make the team at all.
The fate of Kony Ealy
At the DE, Kony Ealy has not fared well, and it is unlikely that the team plans to keep too many DEs. However, the Cowboys will try to give him a chance at a defensive tackle, which is a good idea considering that Maliek Collins and David Irving are absent at the moment. Still, he will have to fight players such as Antwaun Woods, Jihad Ward, Brian Price and Datone Jones for a roster spot.
Bo Scarbrough fares well
Scarbrough got his chance after Rod Smith played his snaps and he made a lot of things happen. Moreover, we watched him on a special team, meaning that he has a great chance to earn a spot on the roster. And he will most likely use it.
Safety could be a problem
Dallas Cowboys need to find a player at safety, and they worked some players out, but this doesn’t mean that they will sign one. However, if America’s Team plans to add a safety or two, they will need to make some room, and that is an important aspect we need to watch closely. Also, let’s not forget Earl Thomas, but everything depends on the Seahawks at this point. Either way, Dallas needs to do something and do it fast.
