You know that after the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards Beyonce became the most awarded artist in the history of VMA, but do you know how many awards from this prestige competition does Beyonce have? Her long career was very fruitful and during all those years she managed to collect an impressive amount of trophies.
The MTV Video Music Awards has a long tradition, all the way back from 1984, and its main goal is to celebrate best music videos of the year. Beyonce’s the first appearance was in 2003 when she was nominated for Best Female Video, Best R&B Video, Best Choreography in a Video and Viewer’s Choice. It was impressive to see her nominated in four categories and even more impressive that she won in the first three aforementioned.
Almost every next year she was nominated and often she did win. This allowed her to become one of the best artists with 64 nominations and 24 awards. Total of five times Beyonce was nominated for Video of the Year award, and she took the prize home two times including the last one in recently finished 2016 competition. First Video of the year nomination was for Irreplaceable in 2007, but the first win came in 2009 for the Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).
In 2014 Dr*nk in Love was launched featuring Jay-Z, but they didn’t manage to get it, a similar situation was with 7/11 that was released next year. The 2016 video for Formation was enough for a second win at this prestige awards ceremony.
