Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise is getting close to production with every passing day. The movie which has Johnson, Emily Blunt and Jack Whitehall on board is adding new cast members. The three we already named are the protagonist of this film and yesterday we wrote that Edgar Ramirez would portrait a villain in the upcoming Disney spectacle. Today we know that the project is going to have more than one bad guy as Jesse Plemons became the second antagonist. This comes as no surprise as they will need more than one guy to take on The Rock.
The movie will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and it’s based on the Disney’s theme parks which are located all over the world. The script was penned by Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049). He rewrote script previously created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.
Disney has big plans for this movie, as their goal is to create a billion-dollar franchise similarly to what they did with Pirates of the Caribbean. Having Hollywood’s best-paid actor on board is a step in the right direction.
The production will be handled by John Davis and Johns Fox of Davis Entertainment, Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo., and Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions. Jungle Cruise will enter production in late May.
Seven Bucks, which is owned by Johnson, did a fantastic job with Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle which became a global box-office hit grossing almost $1 billion. At the moment they have action-adventure Rampage doing well in theaters. Their next project set for release is Skyscraper. Considering the star power that People’s Champ has, we do not doubt that it will be a massive success.
These days everything Dwayne Johnson touches turns to gold. We are hopeful that his hot streak will continue for years to come. The humble and hardworking man like him certainly deserves it!
