Jeremy Maclin remains a free agent. Could Dallas Cowboys be interested in signing him? According to sources from ESPN, both Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles made inquiries about the wide receiver. Is he destined for NFC East? Let’s see.
Josina Anderson of ESPN wrote on Twitter: “Free agent WR Jeremy Maclin still fielding his market. Two teams that had preliminary inquiries (#Cowboys, #Eagles) signed WRs already in Hurns & Wallace, per source. I’m told Maclin has no geographical limits, just waiting for the right fit. Currently training in Balt. & Philly.”
But, this was before Cowboys landed Thompson and Hurns.
Last season was the least productive in Maclin’s NFL career. He played in 12 games and caught 40 passes for 440 yards and three touchdowns. He was projected to earn $2.5 million in 2018, but despite being on the low side of the salary cap, Baltimore Ravens cut him.

During the free agency wide receivers were the most sought-after merchandise, and got signed everywhere for hefty price tags. The fact that some of them failed to produce numbers in previous years didn’t stop teams to commit millions to them (see what Kansas City Chiefs paid Sammy Watkins). But Maclin is 29, and the market wasn’t high on him. The best he can expect is a one-year deal worth $2.5 million or even less.
Now, the Cowboys interest in Jeremy watered down a bit after they made some signings at the position. But the destiny of Dez Bryant is still unknown. If Dez gets released and Big D franchise fails to draft his replacement the interest in Maclin might resurface.
This week is crucial for the future of Dallas’ top brass receiver as Jerry Jones is expected to sit down and talk with Bryant. The subject of the conversation will be Dez’s declining production spiced with his $12.5 million per year deal. He will take a pay cut or be cut. If the latter one happens Jeremy Maclin to Cowboys might become a thing.
