One thing is sure. Dez Bryant is unsure about his future in Dallas. So are we. The owner of America’s Team, Jerry Jones said that he would have a meeting with Bryant last week. So far, there were no indications that the two met or even talked.
Jason Garrett stated once again that the signing of Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson wouldn’t affect Bryant status with the team. This was on Sunday during Taste of the Cowboys event which had the goal of benefiting the North Texas Food Bank.
Jones needs to talk with Bryant for two simple reasons. First one is his declining production. The second one is his immense salary cap hit. The team’s offseason program starts on April 16th, and many believe that more will be known on Bryant’s fate prior to that date.
For now, Dez stays with Dallas Cowboys, at least according to coach Garrett: “Dez is on our football team. Again, we talked about some of the moves we’ve made at the receiver position, and they’re designed to create competition there. We think that’s going to help everybody on our team.”
Of course, the media wanted to know if Bryant & Jones meeting happened in the last few days to which America’s team head coach responded: “I don’t know.”
Persistent reporters wanted a better answer, so they pushed Cowboys Center Travis Fredrick for an answer, but he also was short on information: “I stay out of it. I don’t know anything about it. I don’t think anyone knows anything about it. We just go on like things are. That’s what we do. Whatever happens, happens. Obviously, I love Dez. I love him as a teammate. I love him as a person. I just wish him the best and hope everything gets settled.”
Another player who gave his opinion on the matter was La’el Collins. Cowboys offensive tackle said that he couldn’t care less about Dez rumors. What he thinks about is the team, Bryant as a part of it, and the next season.
Apparently, more will be known in the coming days. Stay tuned as we bring you more information.
