Good news wrestling fans! The Rock will appear on the upcoming Wrestlemania 34, scheduled for April 8th, in New Orleans. Not only that as he will also participate in a match, at least according to bookmakers. At the moment he is not on the list of participants that are locked for WM 34. But, as you probably know, he always has a part to play at the biggest show of them all.
According to Oddschecker, there is 99% chance that we will see People’s Champ in New Orleans. The odds are 25/1 that he will even partake in a match. Nothing would set the crowd wild at Mercedes-Benz Superdome as the scene of The Rock putting his elbow pads on in the ring.
During the span of seven years, Dwayne Johnson appeared at six past Wrestlemania events. He wrestled in three of them. A spokesperson for Oddschecker, George Elek explained their reasoning for these odds: “The Rock is still one of the WWE’s biggest names and an appearance from the Great One would spike interest and generate huge publicity for Vince McMahon’s business. The bookies believe he is almost certain to appear once again at The Showcase of the Immortals and 1/100 implies a 99 percent chance that we will see The People’s Champion inside the Squared Circle. If bookies are right, then that’s exactly what will be happening come Wrestlemania 34, with a predicted 99 percent chance of it happening. For perspective, that’s the same chance of Spain beating the Faroe Islands or San Marino.”
For those of you not familiar with European football, so-called soccer, this is an equivalent of Golden State Warriors beating a high school team, or Patriots beating a CFL team.
If we believe in oddsmakers, The Rock will be there at Wrestlemania. The question that remains is how will the WWE use him, or how much will he be willing to risk an injury in a more extended match? Some believe that he will be there to support his cousin Roman Reigns as he beats Brock Lesnar for Universal Championship.
At this point everything is possible, but unfortunately, all that is left is to wait for April 8th and New Orleans Wrestlemania.
