Dwayne The Rock Johnson is Hollywood’s best-paid actor, and the most popular persona on the social networks. These accolades sound great, and they indeed are. But, recently Johnson was awarded solely for his acting.
We are talking about Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. People’s Champ was nominated in ‘Favorite Movie Actor’ category for his role as professor Smolder Bravestone in Jumanji: Welcome To the Jungle. And he won! The movie itself also was nominated and got an award in ‘Favorite Movie’ category.
The ceremony was held at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The host was no other than John Cena, the second year in a row. It only came naturally that Johnson was going to win it all. When his former WWE colleague, who also is looking for similar Hollywood career is being the host. We are of course joking; the decision was made by a jury, Cena was just communicating their decision.
Now, some would say that winning 2018 Kids’ Choice Awards in ‘Favorite Movie,’ and ‘Favorite Movie Actor’ was easy for Dwayne Johnson but think again. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle had competition in titles such as “Beauty and the Beast (2017)”, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “The Greatest Showman” and “Wonder Woman.”
The actor, on the other hand, was up against the likes of his co-star from Jumanji Kevin Hart, Ben Affleck (“Justice League”), Chris Hemsworth (“Thor: Ragnarok”), Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2”) and Will Ferrell (“Daddy’s Home 2”).
This might not mean much to some, but Dwayne Johnson will be thrilled to accept this award. Jumanji was a success at the box office with more than $942 millions earned. And now it has critical acclaim from the public it was intended for. After being awarded a Razzie for Baywatch, Johnson will find quite a joy in these awards.
So far in his career, Dwayne The Rock Johnson attained fame and fortune. It is only a matter of time when he will start looking for critical acclaim. In years to come, someone as ambitious as Brahman Bull will set his eyes on an Oscar. Just wait and see.
