If there was a Mount Rushmore of the WWE wrestlers, there is no doubt that Hulk Hogan would have one of the four spots. Back in the 80s and the early 90s, everybody was a Hulkamaniac. A lot of older fans who are still following the WWE and the world of wrestling started off as fans of the Hulk Hogan. He is probably the second most iconic superstar of all time, right behind the Stone Cold Steve Austin who is still unmatched.
WWE brought Hulk Hogan back in 2014 after he had some stints with other companies, including working for TNA. But, he threw it all away when he used some inappropriate language and that was captured on a video camera. The biggest company in the industry released him on the spot.
Now, he is still looking to get into business and he had a great chance to appear at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom PPV, that is if his pay demands weren’t insane.
According to the Sports Illustrated, the Hulkster asked the company to pay him 750,000 dollars in order to show up on their biggest show on January 4th. As soon as he said how much money he wants, Takaaki Kidani, the owner of the NJPW quickly retracted his offer.
If he had accepted a normal pay like everybody else, he would have been an honorary member of the Bullet Club, which would be a cool thing to see. Something similar has been done with Jeff Jarrett and Meng at the recent WK events.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the two sides couldn’t really agree on terms and now we know why.
We can’t blame NJPW for making the decision not to accept these crazy demands from the Hulkster. He is just not worth it anymore.
