Intel Capital is investing funds in SanJet Technology Corp to assist the company in developing the next generation applications for wearable vehicle devices, according to a report from FocusTaiwan. The corporate venturing unit of the US based technology firm Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has not revealed the amount of investment to be made in the Taiwanese digital image solution provider, but it is made with funding from the US$ 100 million Intel Capital Connected Car Fund.
Funds to help in high end monitoring devices
The device that is being developed would allow full-HD video, wide angle views and wireless features. According to Sudheer Kuppam, managing director of the Asia-Pacific region at Intel Capital, “SanJet is well-placed to capitalize on the growing demand for video consumption in and around vehicles with the technology advancements the company has made.” He added that the company is excited by the plans and the caliber that SanJet Corp would bring to the high end monitoring devices.
SanJet’s Chairman, Steve Liao said that through the investment and support of Intel Capital SanJet would be able to channel its resources to build such devices and add new features along with the next generation applications.
Intel Capital’s investment spree
Since 1999, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has continued to invest in the Taiwanese technology company investing over US$ 260 million in more than 40 such companies.
This year the chip maker is looking forward to invest in the Taiwanese technology firms such as Waltop International Corp, a dominant company in electromagnetic-based pen input design and manufacturing along with Lintes Technologies, a provider of high speed connectivity products.
A few months back, Intel invested US$ 65 million in 16 technology firms across nine countries including two Indian firms. The global investment and M&A arm of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) channeled funds in the companies that are working in the domain of cloud, data, center, mobile technologies and consumer services. The chipmaker is zeroing in on the new growth opportunities through structured networking.
Some of the companies that received funding from Intel to take further their innovation and developments of new products were; CloudFX (Signapore); cloud storage software provider, Cloudian (Japan/USA); community website and services platform, CSDN (China); 3-D software developer DotProduct (USA).
