The Dallas Cowboys have had a season to forget, but they still cling to playoff hopes. With all of the fuss around Ezekiel Elliott suspension, and slur of injuries that have hampered their playoff run it’s a wonder they are still in the picture. Yes, they have a remote chance of reaching the postseason, but what they need to do is to run the table. With four matches left they need divisional wins against New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles and victories against also playoff hopefuls Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.
After going 2-3 in the first five matches, America’s Team went on a three-game winning streak which included wins against San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, and Kansas City Chiefs. Just as the things started to get into place, Ezekiel Elliott suspension began, Cowboys offense fell apart, and they have lost three consecutive games against Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Chargers. The negative streak was stopped on Thursday against divisional rival Washington Redskins.
With a 6-6 score, Dallas Cowboys are currently second in the NFC East. The only way they could win the division is for them to win the remainder of the matches while at the same time Eagles need to lose their remaining four games. With chances being slim of this ever happening considering how good Eagles have been playing, Cowboys are left fighting for a wild-card spot.
And, like we said this could happen, but only if they run the table and win all four matches in December. Stranger things have happened, and one of those who thinks that this scenario is a possibility is Cowboy’s former QB turned broadcaster Tony Romo.
When asked about Cowboys chances of reaching the playoffs Wisconsin native said: “This is a really good football team, they just haven’t played good football. They still have plenty of talent. …They go ‘win, win, win’ you see that’s [the next] three games [on their schedule]. That puts them back at 8-6 going into Seattle for what could be the Wild Card berth. If they win that [they’re at] 9-6, possibly at Philadelphia resting their starters — that puts you at 10-6.”
With Dallas team going 10-6, and some other results panning their way 2017 Postseason could be within their grasp. After Romo gave this statement, Cowboys have already won one of those matches against Washington Redskins. So, they are already 6-6 and have four more to go to reach the playoffs.
