Dwayne Johnson posted a photo on Instagram where we can see him celebrating Thanksgiving with his family. However, it wasn’t always like that for the famous actor, and he has had ups and downs throughout his life.
The former wrestler said: “After we bowed our heads in prayer, we went around the table and everyone shared what they were thankful for, Beautiful seeing and listening to everyone speak from their heart. Tears, laughter and boundless gratitude.”
During the holiday, Johnson said that his mother Ata Johnson, 69, remembered the times when the family couldn’t afford having a Thanksgiving dinner at the time when The Rock was a 15-year-old boy. At that point, his father’s professional wrestling career was at its end, whereas his grandmother Lia Maivia owned a wrestling business in Hawaii, that was also coming to a close.
“As my mom pointed out earlier in the day, there was a time back in ‘87 when we couldn’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner and was praying someone would invite us over their house to eat,” Johnson said. “We were in a tough spot back then, but we got thru it.”
Luckily, we all know how it all tuned out for Dwayne Johnson who became a major WWE star about a decade after. After he conquered the wrestling world and secured his finances, he went to Hollywood – today, this man is one of the most popular actors as well as among the highest-paid superstars.
His recent movies are The Fate of the Furious, which was a major box office hit and Baywatch that didn’t receive favorable critics. Johnson isn’t looking back, and the next film we will watch is Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle that premieres next month.
During this year’s Thanksgiving dinner, he joked about being the most handsome man there. He also said: “Jokes aside, it was a very special Thanksgiving,” and he enjoyed the holiday with his “big, extended, blended, slightly crazy, loving, grateful ohana.” (Hawaiian for family).
