The comments of Republican presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump on immigration are “racist and dangerous,” according Prime Minister Enda Kenney of Ireland.
Political observers suggest that the statement of the Irish Prime Minister is a setback for Trump’s initiative to attract the votes of Irish-Americans in November.
The Republican presumptive presidential nominee proposed the deportation of an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, building a wall between Mexico and the United States, and he will compel the Mexican government to pay for it. He also proposed banning Muslims from entering the United States, which received criticisms. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia called him a disgrace to America.
During a parliament in Dublin on Tuesday, Prime Minister Kenny said, “If Trumps comments are racist and dangerous, which they are. There is an alternative to vote for. It’s a matter for the American people. The world will have to deal with their decision.”
Trump has businesses in Ireland. In 2014, he acquired the 400-acre Doonbeg Lodge and Golf Course in Claire.
California Governor Endorses Hillary Clinton
Separately, California Governor Jerry Brown endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination to stop Trump.
In an open letter to Democrats and Independents in California, Brown said, “I have decided to cast my vote for Hillary Clinton because I believe this is the only path forward to win the presidency and stop the dangerous candidacy of Donald Trump.”
The California Governor also noted that Clinton won around 3 million more votes and hundreds more delegates than Senator Bernie Sanders. He said, Clinton’s lead is insurmountable and Democrats have shown – by millions of votes – that they want her as their nominee.”
“The stakes couldn’t be higher. Our country faces an existential threat from climate change and the spread of nuclear weapons. A new Cold War is on the horizon. Hillary Clinton, with her long experience, especially as secretary of state, has a firm grasp of the issues and will be prepared to lead our country on day one,” said Governor Brown.
World leaders rattled by Trump’s proposals
Last week, President Barack Obama said world leaders are rattled by the prospect of Trump being elected as the next leader of the United States, during a press conference after his first day of meetings with G-7 leaders.
According to the U.S. President, Trump displays “ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude” in many of his proposals. He added, “I think it’s fair to say they are surprised by the Republican nominee. They are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements, but they are rattled by it.”
President Obama is confident that American voters will make a good decision and eventually elect the best leader for the country.
