Good news for all the Dallas Cowboys fans – the star running back will play in Week 8 against the Washington Redskins since the NFL’s request for an expedited hearing in Elliott’s case was turned down on Monday, according to The Associated Press.
The league’s request has been rejected by the US District Judge Katherine Polk Failla, whereas the hearing will take place on October 30, 2017, as it has been scheduled initially. This is just one day before Dallas Cowboys meet with the Redskins.
Ezekiel Elliott received a six-game suspension on August over domestic violence allegations, and it is just a matter of time when this suspension will be enforced. Star RB, together with the NFLPA didn’t want to accept the suspension lightly, so they took the NFL to court. So far, Elliott has been allowed to play for the Cowboys, and thanks to the judge who issued a restraining order last week, the first running back option was crucial for Dallas’ win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers still have no victory in the season, and this loss was a large one considering that they were defeated in the five previous games by three points or less. In the game against Dallas, Zeke excelled, scoring three touchdowns and recording 219 yards from scrimmage, which is his personal best. The whole Cowboys team played well, and they looked like Dallas from last season.
A 22-year-old running back supposedly had numerous physical confrontations in the summer last year with his former girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson. This was the reason why the case was under the investigation for a year by the NFL, even though the prosecutors in the state of Ohio declined to bring charges due to conflicting evidence.
