Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) announced that it will start selling the Apple Watch in select stores this week and eventually in all of its stores nationwide on October 25.
The second largest U.S. retailer added that online shoppers will be able to order the Apple Watch at Target.com starting on October 18.
In a statement, Target said, “Guests can choose from 20 models—in both 38mm and 42mm sizes—including beautiful space gray and rose gold colors. Select models and bands will be available at all Target stores, and an expanded assortment of Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch will be available on Target.com. Prices range from $349 to $599.”
Demand for Apple Watch has been strong
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been expanding the number of its third-party vendors for the Apple Watch. Target is the second U.S. retailer to sell the Apple Watch.
Best Buy started selling the device in August. The electronics retailer initially planned to sell the Apple Watch in 300 stores for the holiday season, but decided to expand its availability to all of its stores across the country due to a strong demand and to attract mainstream consumers. The Apple Watch is available in 1,047 Best Buy stores.
During a previous conference call with Wall Street analysts, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly said, “Demand for Apple Watch has been so strong in the stores and online.”
Apple Watch OS2 upddate
Apple recently released its watchOS 2 update after the tech giant fixed an unspecified bug on the Apple Watch. The update allows apps to operate directly and faster on the smartwatch. It also allows app developers to access the sensors and controlsof the device, which should result to the development of better apps.
The Apple Watch is now works with WiFi, and its fitness apps become smarter. In addition, users have more choices for watch faces, reply to e-mails quickly, and set more than 12 friends as favorites.
