Rick and Morty achieved major success with Season 3, and the show keeps gaining more fans all across the world. The Season 3 concluded by wrapping up the divorce storyline, while the most significant episode was Episode 7 with the evil Morty.
The success of the animated series created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon is enormous as it earned the number one comedy on all of the television for the 18-34 demographic for this year. In other words, the titular characters have been more popular than long-lasting The Simpsons. Also, Rick and Morty is the highest-rated Adult Swim series. Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang president Christina Miller talked about the success of the show, and she said:
“Rick and Morty is truly what a modern day hit looks like across multiple screens and multiple touchpoints. Dan and Justin have created a world, not just a show, and fans are completely engaged.”
This is good news for the fans because the end of the series is not near. One of the Rick and Morty fans is Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk who said that Season 3 finale was “disgustingly good.” The guys behind the show replied: “Thanks, E. Just riding this out until the singularity hits, you know?”
Musk then wrote: “The singularity for this level of the simulation is coming soon. I wonder what the levels above us look like. Good chance they are less interesting and deeper levels are better. So far, even our primitive sims are often more entertaining than reality itself.”
Harmon spoke at the New York Comic Con when he talked about the toxic environment that is created by such a large success of the show. He said: “Look, I’m one of these guys. I grew up shaking my fist at this “Star Wars” movie over that “Star Wars” movie … as long as I can keep making this show, hate it all you want. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t trolling a little bit by making sure that a season they had political reasons to hate was one of the best that we did. Then again, I can’t manipulate the quality of a show season to season. But what I can do is make sure it’s a really good season.”
As for the release date, perhaps we should listen to Mr. Poopybutthole who appeared at the end of the Season 3, Episode 10. He seemed to have led quite a life behind the scenes.
