Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN)’s Prime Now service will be accessible to Amazon Prime members in London. The company has extended the one hour delivery to selected postcodes in London. There is a separate dedicated app for Amazon Prime from where the eligible customers can avail one-hour delivery. This feature has been launched for the first time outside the United States.
The Prime Membership and Prime Now
The ecommerce giant has already dominated the online market. The company, however, still struggles to make profits that match its influence. Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) introduced a one year membership plan for its customers. This feature called, Amazon Prime, provides faster delivery to its members. Prime members also enjoy exclusive access to selected products. This membership is charged with an annual fee that varies by country. It seems that the online store hopes to maintain loyal customer base through this subscription based service.
Recently, a new feature called ‘Prime Now’ was released that allowed the subscribers access to one hour delivery in selected cities in the United States. The same service is now introduced in London for 7 British Pounds per one-hour delivery. The company is preparing to widen the availability of the service in the United Kingdom.
Free Delivery and Other Features
The one hour delivery is only available for orders worth 20 British Pounds minimum. However, there is an option for two hour delivery which is free as of now. The same day delivery is also free and the delivery slots are available throughout the week through 8 am to midnight. There is a dedicated London Prime Now app that allows users to shop in 27 different departments. Currently nearly 10,000 products are available for Amazon Prime members in London.
Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) plans to extend this service to more cities in the world. However, as of now, the service is not available everywhere in London. It is interesting to see how the service is received with the busy crowd of London.
