When the schedule for the 2017 NFL Season was released, the Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys was one of the most anticipated matches. This is a rematch of the last season’s divisional playoff game. Cowboys are favored to win this one as they are opened as 2.5 point favorites.
The Packers are currently tied for the first place in the NFC North with Detroit Lions at 3-1 score. They are favorites to win this division, but so far in the four games of this season they were outfield as favorites three times (vs. Bears, Bengals, and Seahawks), and after Falcons, they are now underdogs vs. Cowboys. Dallas squad was favored for NFC East before the season started, but they currently stand at 2-2 one game behind Philly. They were favorites in all four duels, and they are now vs. Green Bay Packers.
Last season the Cowboys were 5 point underdogs in the regular season but came as eventual winners (30-16) with Dak Prescott throwing for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Their defense was on fire that night forcing four turnovers. Later in the postseason Cowboys were 5.5 points favorites but lost 34-31. Aaron Rodgers had a stellar evening setting up Mason Crosby for a field goal twelve seconds before the end of the game after 35-yard pass for Jared Cook.
The most significant Packer advantage is going to be the fact that they had more time for rest, considering that they last played on Thursday. They trashed Chicago Bears but at the cost of their running backs. Both Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams were injured, so rookie Aaron Jones will start the duel. Also, WR Davante Adams will be out after suffering a hit in the helmet vs. Bears. Offensive tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga are currently on a ‘to be announced’ status for the upcoming game, and if they fail to recover it could be a massive loss for Green Bay.
The Cowboys are entering this match after surprise loss vs. LA Rams. Offensively they looked good with 440 yards, but also they gave the ball away twice. The Rams put up 412 yards but without a turnover. The main reason for defeat was their lousy play on the defense. The loss of their all-pro linebacker Sean Lee was irrecoverable. Also, the Cowboys were coming after the short week, so they were just plain tired.
The Packers are coming at AT&T Stadium pretty banged up, but we will put them as favorites. Aaron Rodgers has proved himself as a player that can dominate in Dallas. Taking into account, that both teams are weaker on the defense it will be the team that puts up more points that is going to win. At this moment we believe that Packers have that advantage, with Rodgers ready to torment Cowboys secondary. Packers WIN 37-23.
