WhatsApp calling is now officially available for BlackBerry 10 users. The feature, which was in Beta stage for last few months, is now available in an official version for BlackBerry. This adds one more reason for BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) customers to be happy as WhatsApp calling makes it easy to enjoy VoIP calls.
The company has recently added this feature of voice calling. The new version of the WhatsApp, known as BlackBerry version 2.12.12, brings with it several bug fixes and a lot new improvements. The users now have the option to search individual messages in their chats through the new search feature.
The feature is not instantly available, though, users can avail it after a few days of use of the app. Besides search, users can customize their ringtone. With WhatsApp calling, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) users can call their friends and colleagues all across the globe using their data network. The app currently supports Wi-Fi and mobile data networks. The relevant data charges are applicable for this service.
One important fix this release has introduced is the improved scaling of fonts. The fonts in the chat window can now better match with system’s default fonts. On the BlackBerry OS 10.3, users can experience better matching of font style and highlighting with their system. The BlackBerry Classic users can enjoy improved navigation.
Users can also enjoy a larger map preview while reading the location messages. Users can now use “Add to contact” feature right from the chat menu to add new contacts. This feature is accessible in both individual and group chats. The picture, audio and video message management is also improvement. Picture messages can be organized based on the year and month. The audio and video messages are organized in the specific directories of WhatsApp.
This new version is far advanced than the Beta release. It is, however, surprising that BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has been keen to introduce developments to its WhatsApp rather than focusing on its in-house BlackBerry Messenger.
