LG Electronics (KRX:066570) announced that it will start selling its new LG G Pad 8.3 tablet with high-definition screen for $350 in the United States on November 3.
The LG G Pad 8.3 tablet sports an 8.3-inch IPS display with a 1080p HD resolution powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor (Snapdragon 600) from Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM). The device is integrated with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and microSD slot that supports up to 64GB.
In addition, the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet has 5-megapixel camera and 4,600-mAH battery. Some of the features of the device allow consumers to use Quick Memo, QSlide Function, and Slide Aside. The QPair function has the ability to connect, send and receive text messages as well as transfer notes with QuickMemo to an LG smartphone. It can also access recent apps available on an LG smartphone and the G Pad 8.3.
LG Electronics’ pricing strategy for the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet competes with the Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Mini and Galaxy Note from Samsung Electronics (KSE:005930) that costs $329 and $400, respectively. Apple is expected to introduce a new line of iPad Mini during an event in San Francisco on October 22.
It will also compete with the Nexus 7 from Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Kindle Fire HDX from Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN), each has a price tag of $229.
Last week, LG Electronics launched its LG G Pro Lite smartphone with a 5.5-inch IPS display, stylus pen, unique UX features, and 3,140 mAH battery. The smartphone is also equipped with stero speakers and dual SIM, and a dedicated hot key.
Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, “With LG G Pro Lite, we are introducing a competitive device to the masses in the growing large smartphone market. The market for smartphones with displays over five inches will continue to grow and LG is in a great position to capture these new customers when they’re ready to move up from their current phones.”
The LG G Pro Lite has 8.0 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera. It is powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 operating system and MT6577 1.0 GHz dual core processor, and it has 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, and MicroSD slot. In addition, it has a Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, A-GPS, Wi-Fi Direct connectivity.
LG Electronics plans to launch the LG G Pro Lite in Latin America this month, next in Asia, Russia, China, India, and the Middle East.
