Fans of It, you can relax now, since we don’t have to wait for another 27 years until Pennywise comes back to the big screen.
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema made an announcement that It: Chapter Two, the next installment of Andy Muschietti’s off the hook horror hit, will be launched in theaters on September 6, 2019.
It (now also known as It: Chapter One) made a huge box office run early in September, and at the moment these are the records it holds: the biggest opening for an R-rated movie, the most pre-sale tickets sold for a horror, the largest domestic debut for a horror film, the best preview night for a horror (pulling in $13.5 million). It also managed to get the largest release for a flick based on a book, the best opening for a New Line-released feature, and the best IMAX opening for September and a horror pic overall.
It: Chapter Two deals with the second half of King’s work of over 1,000 pages, and it will take place in the present, as Chapter One was set in 1988 and 1989. It will show the Losers’ Club as adults who got reunited once again, as they vowed with a blood oath to get together again to beat Pennywise once he resurrects. The director, Muschietti said that “dialogue between timelines will be more present” in this installment. He also added: “If we’re telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the ’80s and inform the story in the present day.”
Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jaeden Lieberher and Jack Dylan Grazer were the stars of the first movie and will have important appearances in the sequel. While the process of writing was still ongoing, it was unknown which actors would get to play the Losers’ Club adult versions. Although, we have a couple of thoughts who could be ideal for each character.
