A lot of core WWE fans didn’t really enjoy Lesnar winning the title at the No Mercy pay per view against Braun Strowman. There are a couple of reasons for that. One of them is the fact that Braun fell to only one F5 after looking so dominant and so strong for a long time. It took The Undertaker three F5 finishers for him not to kick out. A Monster Among Men was downed after just one finisher from Lesnar.
The second and the more important reason is that the main title on the red brand is not going to be present for a long time. The company wanted to do this battle at the Great Balls of Fire pay per view, and they wanted to keep the title on Brock. Instead of that, they booked the match two months later because Strowman was dealing with the injury, but they haven’t changed the booking of the duel itself. The original plans were for Lesnar to retain the title and the writers stuck to it.
Now, it seems that Lesnar is going to be off at least until the Survivor Series and maybe even the Royal Rumble. If that is the case, we might not even see him until January. As far as his next challenger goes, rumor has it that Finn Balor is going to be the one to step up to the plate and try to take the title that he hasn’t lost.
The story is going to be centered around the fact that Balor never lost the belt in a match as he had to forfeit it due to the injury. He never got his shot at the championship since then, but he might just be the one to face Lesnar at one of the two dual-branded pay per views in either November or January.
