Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) bespoke smart watches priced $349 for the sports version and $17,000 for the 180-karat gold Edition has one handicap: low power backup. The battery of the Apple Watch, despite the limited use, is likely to last under three hours, if used to take phone calls.
Although Apple Inc. has confirmed that the batteries are replaceable, it remains to be seen if the price and the time taken to replace the batteries are affordable or formidable!
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) much talked about smartwatch, are definitely eye candy for the iPhone purists. The watch itself may manage a few basic features, but requires an iPhone at close quarters for processing anything beyond notifications, time-checks, app use, or minute music playback.
Power guzzling
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch leaves much to desire, in terms of the power it consumes. At last count, it was noted that thirty minutes of talk-time on the Watch would drain out the battery.
While the sports watch version, is positioned as the model for the workout and music playback use, it is the lowest priced of the Apple Watch spectrum.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently pushing its Smart Watch as the wearable device which will drive fitness in its wearer. The watch is designed to measure the workout, by turning up the heart rate sensor. However, with this function on, the battery lasts all of seven hours. Apparently, if you use the Watch to listen to music, then the battery drains out in about 6.5 hours.
For users of luxury brand watches the switch to branded Apple Watch would make a difference. It would not only mean an expensive price tag, but additional responsibility to charge it, a function they do not have to bother with other automatic or mechanical watches!
