Sadly the week two game was very disappointing for Cowboys and their fans since they lost the away game against Denver Broncos, but not everything is that gloomy. There might be a light at the end of this tunnel that came on Monday, and it was in the form of news that formerly suspended defensive end Damontre Moore is now, finally, eligible to return to play. But the return of Moore might bring some problems and rotations in the squad for a few other defensive linemen.
If we look at Moore’s preseason statistics, we will find two sacks and seven tackles from rather limited playing time which makes him a very important player for Cowboys and possibly one of their best defensive linemen. Just because his preseason was so successful his return, after the suspension, was a thing that Cowboys expected very eagerly. Some of you might argue about what we said here, and you could be right because his performance during his first five seasons in the league wasn’t that good, but hey, times and people do change.
As we mentioned before Damontre’s return might upset the team’s rotation for a couple of players that have been getting in with the second defensive line over the last two games like rookies Taco Charlton and Benson Mayowa. If Damontre makes a huge impact in the next game and if he does it quickly, then he will most definitely replace one of these two rushers. Let’s not forget the sophomore Charles Tapper who has been getting some solid snap counts in the rotation, but this guy will need to pick up his game if he wants to keep that momentum.
When talking about Damontre and his contribution to the team, we believe that pairing him with DeMarcus Lawrence (who by the way isn’t going to be leaving the starting lineup anytime soon) will be an awesome rush-men package and a real danger to the opposing offenses. On top of that, there are a couple of additions to this package in the form of Maliek Collins, and David Irving that would turn that impressive rush-men package into a lethal rushing front. Truth be told, they do not have that special rushing edge that Denver or Oakland does, but they could really dominate games for short stretches. Regardless of the combinations that the Cowboys decided to make, we believe that they will destroy the competition if they come through during crucial moments this season.
