Much to all Terminator fans’ delight, the great movie franchise will finally get its reboot, a proper one, which will be made by Skydance and Paramount. It has been 25 years since the original title saw the light of day, but the great news is that it has been confirmed that Linda Hamilton will, once again, work with James Cameron on the upcoming sequel.
It is important to note that the news came right from the horse’s mouth, as Cameron himself made the announcement saying: “As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.” Furthermore, he also added that “there are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”
The new Terminator sequel will be directed by Tim Miller, while the story it will be based on was crafted by James Cameron. There is a team of writers who made their contribution to the highly-anticipated title. These include David Goyer (known for Blade and Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies), Josh Friedman (known for Terminator TV spinoff), Charles Eglee (Dark Angel), and Justin Rhodes.
In addition to Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger will also reunite with Cameron to work on the new film, so we can only say that it sounds promising already. Given that we saw Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor both in the original 1984’s movie and Cameron’s 1991’s sequel, it would be hard to imagine any other actress in that role. Of course, the same goes for Schwarzenegger’s memorable performance.
As for some details about the storyline, these are still kept under wraps. Cameron only revealed the following: “We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story. We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.”
That’s all we know so far, but we promise we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
