A full spec sheet of the upcoming BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) Rio Z20 was leaked recently. The sheet revealed that the device is actually a mid-range smartphone. The device has an ornamental design, and its first look is now exclusively available (thanks to N4BB).
Rio an evolution of Manitoba Z3 LTE
BlackBerry says that the device has been designed for people, who wish to own devices that are powerful and updated with latest technology, but are reasonably priced. BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) says that for Rio Z20 the target audience will comprise of people looking for a device that gives them a competitive advantage over others so that they are able to fulfill all their ambitions and eventually win.
Earlier, the company had plans of introducing Manitoba Z3 LTE, which was cancelled for some reasons, and an evolution of the same device has taken place in the form of Rio, says N4BB. The company is expected to target customers in EMEA, LATAM and certain parts of APAC with the new device. Carriers in North America may not get the Rio suggest N4BB. However, customers in America and Canada may be able to buy the Rio from ShopBlackBerry.com on which it could be available for a limited time period.
Will BlackBerry price Rio like Z30?
Pricing of Rio will play a significant role. During the Black Friday sales, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) sold quite a few Z30 for a price of $225. Rio would be able to attract lot many customers, both current and/or new if the company sells it for the same price target of $300, says N4BB.
The features of the device are a display of 5-inch with a screen resolution of 1280X720 ppi. The device has a rear camera of 8MP and a front camera of 2MP. It runs on a powerful battery of 2800 mAh and is powered with a Dual core 1.5 GHz processor. The battery provides a backup of 19 hours and is of the same size as most of the competing flagships.
Rio, which is expected to release by February, will be the first smartphone released by the company next year. A white-colored version of the device could also be offered.
