Luckily for Elliott, a judge in Texas granted a preliminary injunction for the Dallas Cowboys running back on Friday, which might allow him to play the entire season even though he received a six-game suspension. We have heard a lot of people talking about Zeke, but he has decided to keep it low profile during this process, and he refused to meet the media at the Dallas training camp and after the court ruling.
However, when the Cowboys defeated the Giants on Sunday, Elliott answered his first questions in nearly three months, and as expected, most of the questions were about his suspension and investigation itself.
“It’s definitely been a tough 14 months, and at times it has gotten so hard, and you start to lose faith,” Elliott said, via the Cowboys official website. “But just being able to come in and be with these boys every day has kept me focused and made me not give up and keep going.”
Thanks to Judge Amos Mazzant, who ruled in Elliott’s favor on Friday, Zeke was allowed to play in the season opener. Judge’s ruling kept the NFL from enforcing the six-game suspension, and after he made that decision, Cowboys star running back had only one thing to say.

“Just relief, just relief,” Elliott declared. “The fact that I finally get a fair trial, the fact that I finally get a chance to prove my innocence. I’m just happy that I’m able to be with these guys for as long as it’s permitted and just not having to miss time and not being away from them.”
He was asked what was the hardest during these 14 months and he responded: “Just kind of your name getting dragged through the mud. It’s been 14 months. Just kind of being associated with that, that’s tough.”
The popular running back dominated in his season debut against the New York Giants with 104 rushing and 36 receiving yards. He said that he would try to focus on football only and try not to pay attention to what is happening between the NFL and the NFLPA.
“I mean, it is what it is. I’ve kind of just stopped worrying about it, because it’s really not in my hands at this point,” Elliott said. “I’m just really focused right now on being the running back I need to be so this team can be successful, so we can accomplish what we want to.”
On Monday, the NFL could appeal Mazzant’s ruling from Friday and provided that turned out to be successful it could keep Elliott off the field in Week 2. However, the court system isn’t working that fast, so we will probably watch Dallas with Elliott as a starting running back against Denver.
