33. Mixed feeling about rookies
In this year’s draft, the Cowboys wanted to improve the defense since they let some of the key players walk in free agency. Taco Charlton was the first-round pick, and he will need some time to adjust to the big-boys league. So far, he has had five tackles and one sack that came in a game against Kansas City Chiefs. Moreover, Chidobe Awuzie, who was drafted in the second round, has played just three games due to his annoying hamstring injury. The best rookie on defense has been Jourdan Lewis with 26 tackles and one interception.
On the offensive end, wide receiver Ryan Switzer was selected, and he got a new task as a Dallas’ return specialist. So far, Switzer has returned 13 punts for 81 yards and eight kicks for 169 yards, but he hasn’t had a return touchdown.
