3Tahir Whitehead, OLB, Detroit Lions
The segment where Cowboys have almost no depth is undoubtedly the position of linebacker. Jaylon Smith has returned from gruesome injury but hadn’t reached his best form during 2017. Their 2015 draft pick Damian Wilson still hasn’t become the player Cowboys need at the position. Hitchens, who plays best in the middle might be released after the season because America’s Team might not be able to retain him due to his salary desires. The only star linebacker on the team is Sean Lee, but only when he’s healthy. He missed several games this season and Cowboys dearly missed him, having lost essential matches because no player was able to step up for him.
The man who would be ideal to fill the holes at this position is Detroit Lions Tahir Whitehead.
He turns 28 next season, is not a worn out player and had some good years behind him. He can both tackle opponents and intercept passes which Cowboys could use. In 2016 he had 132 tackles and four interceptions.
