Marquise Goodwin, a 49ers’ receiver had one hell of a game against NY Giants with the team’s biggest play of the year. The end result was a 31-21 win for SF 49ers, and despite the most devastating loss anyone can endure, Goodwin managed to play the Sunday game and come up with an 83-yard touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Beathard in the first quarter which is basically the longest play from scrimmage by a 49er this season.
Goodwin managed to score this touchdown by skillfully evading New York cornerback Janoris Jenkins, after which he blew a kiss to the sky before crossing the touchline and, very emotionally, knelt down and prayed in the end zone with all his teammates around him. Goodwin also wrote a post on Instagram saying that he and his wife Morgan lost baby boy on Sunday morning because of complications during her pregnancy. Here is what he wrote “Unfortunately, we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4 a.m. Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please pray for the Goodwin family.”
This is something no parent should ever live to see and feel, but life is sometimes hard and has plans of its own. We hope that they both will find a way to manage with the pain and sorrow, and we believe that every football fan, every friend, acquaintance, coach and the entire NFL community is sending prayers to the Goodwin family. In this rough period, it is important that they stay together as a family and fight the pain together, which is just the thing Goodwin showed when he hastily exited the locker room after the game, in order to be with his wife and family.
