Mercedes recently conducted prototype test drives of an updated Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe. However today we stumbled upon the updated C63 Coupe which is courtesy of the Mercedes-AMG.
Do not expect major changes since this is only a mid-cycle update. New internals for the headlights and Panamericana styled grille is expected since the AMG is slowly implementing it to its range.
When it comes to the cabin, we could discern from the prototypes of the updated C-Class a new sporty steering wheel and touchpad controllers in their center consoles which replaced usual rotary dial controllers.
Under the hood, we know for a fact that the updated C63 will feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. On the other hand, we expect a new 9-speed automatic to replace the current 7-speed one.
We are not certain if there will be any kind of improvement to the performance since the current C63 Coupe still holds the title of pack leader concerning horsepower. The standard version C63 Coupe packs 469 horsepower while the C63 S Coupe gets you a total of 503 horsepower.
Last but not least, we speculate that there will be an improved version of C63 R which will be even more powerful than the current one. That will be enough to satisfy our needs at least until the arrival of a new Black Series model.
Keep an eye out here for new updates as we will be watching closely for anything interesting. It’s still early to talk more about the refreshed C-Class Coupe range, which includes the AMG version since it isn’t expected to debut until next year or even in 2019. However, as soon as we get something on it, we will let you know.
