The Toyota Supra will come back as 2019 MY, and we already have some renderings that show us the new look. We are eager to see the final product, and hopefully, it will come at least near to the one in images regarding design. Guys from SupraMKV.com used the spy photos of the camouflaged Toyota Supra and stripped it down to show the fans new attractive styling. This may just be the rendering, but it is a very good one, and we can see Supra in its full glory.
In the rendered photo, we can see so many similarities between the 2019 Toyota Supra and the FT-1 concept vehicle which was presented in 2014 and announced the new look of Toyota’s iconic model.
On the front end, we can clearly see the pointed and prominent nose with wide headlights and side strakes which improve the aerodynamics of the car. The rear end is similar to the FT-1 concept with the same taillights, and although these parts are not visible on the camouflaged vehicle, the 2019 Toyota Supra will be almost the same as the concept.
Toyota joined forces with the German carmaker BMW as these two companies will assemble the next Toyota Supra as well as BMW Z5 that will succeed the Z4 model. Both models shall receive new and upgraded engines, and BMW Z5 will be a roadster, unlike the Supra which will be a coupe. The Supra name was in use from 1978 to 2002, and it should be returning again, but this has yet to be officially announced. The new 2019 model will be an RWD vehicle which will probably use hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and more importantly performance.
Speaking of the arrival of the new Supra, the Tokyo Motor Show in October this year might be the perfect place. However, the production vehicle is still far away and Toyota’s plans involve introducing the concept first. According to Autocar, the 2019 Toyota Supra will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder unit good for 242 hp, but there will be a tuned variant that is going to boost hp to 300. A new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 400 horses is also a possibility.
