The Forester has always been a very nice and competent crossover especially with its very spacious cabin, an optional turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive configuration in one package that has been on the market since 2013 and it is really starting to get old. After some time of waiting in the bushes and driving around we finally caught the test mule for the 2019 Subaru Forester and by the looks of it it is near ready for its big reveal.
As we managed to find out the Forester was being tested against both a Honda CR-V and a Volkswagen Tiguan. We can understand the CR-V since it is such a great and well rounded crossover it is definitely a benchmark for all others, but the test against Tiguan was little unexpected. Is it possible that the Subaru is trying to place the Forester one notch above its current place in the market?
The design has changed a bit and the first notable thing on the 2019 Forester is the increase in size. The current Forester is a spacious crossover but as we look at the 2019 model we can not shake the feeling that this one will offer even more space inside. The second thing you will notice, most likely, are the design cues that made it from the company’s upcoming three-row SUV – the Ascent, mixed up with some of the lines that can be found on the new Impreza. It is expected that the 2019 Forester will also get a new Subaru Global Platform, just like the Ascent did, which is basically a new modular architecture designed to be used across the entire lineup.
The most important thing here is the fact that this platform was developed with electrification in mind which is why a news about a possible Forester Hybrid, at some point in time, shouldn’t catch you by surprise. The 2019 Forester will be out and about next year and it will go on sale as a 2019 MY.
